Happy 4th of July, friends!
I don't know about you, but the month of June was a whirlwind of crazy around here...family vacations, birthday celebrations, and just a whole lot of crazy fun. As a result, I'm running just a tad behind on getting all the July freebies out to all Little House Studio Subscribers (sorry! thanks for your patience as I get those together and sent out this week!)...but here's a little freebie for you today, in celebration of the day we celebrate freedom and independence:
Galatians 5:13 offers us a great reminder of the freedom we have in Christ...not a selfish kind of freedom that says we can do whatever we want, but a selfless kind of freedom that says we are free to love and to serve and to give, because we already have all we need in Christ.
I love what Ann Voskamp said over on her blog today, and I think it goes perfectly with this verse:
"And there is a Freedom that rings and won’t be silenced — freedom that calls out the false freedom that a man can do whatever he likes, and rings of the true freedom — that gives a man the freedom to do what is right.
Freedom that grace can be found and hope rises here and this life of faith is infinitely more freedom, a world of higher up and deeper in.
The greatest freedom we have is the freedom to come right to God at any time.
There under the bloom of fireworks, you can feel it —
the love of Christ exploding a heart —
the way a people can live a declaration of independence from all else and breathe the freedom of dependence in the One who explodes grace across all our skies."
Happy Independence Day, friends! May we use the great freedom God has given us to serve and love one another, today and every day.
