The Second Day of Christmas Traditions & Freebies: Deck the Halls

This second tradition is something that I'm sure most families do in one way or another: decking the halls! We actually don't have many actual halls to decorate in our little house (I'm not even sure if the tiny little passageway between the girls' bedrooms even counts as a hallway at all, lol), but I sure do love decking our walls and tables and everything else in our little house for Christmas. It is just so much fun.

I don't know that I really have a specific style of decorating, but I have definitely simplified my Christmas style over the years.  I've noticed that I pin a lot of "Scandinavian/Nordic" Christmas decor ideas on Pinterest...I guess that's the look I lean toward the most, although we definitely have a bit of a hodgepodge/eclectic thing going on.

Decorating for Christmas doesn't have to be complicated or cost a lot of money. It doesn't have to be flashy or fancy. In a small house like ours, I've learned that simplicity is often (maybe always) the best way to go. A little greenery and a few twinkle lights go a long way. And my love for finger-knit garland is multiplied a hundred times over for Christmas...I put it everywhere. (In fact, I just had the girls finger-knit me a few more feet of it last weekend...I may have a tiny problem, lol).

Another easy decoration that I use for just about every celebration throughout the year are banners. And today I'm sharing with you the new "Merry Christmas" banner I made this year!

(Now, imagine there are photos here of this beautiful banner hanging perfectly on my mantle. Just pretend that my day was not a bit crazy and that I remembered to take all the photos of this banner that I had intended to take and share with you...just pretend they are here. Because they were supposed to be. And while we're at it, just imagine that this post was written early this morning and that I'm not just squeezing it in at the skin of my teeth today ;) ((thank you)) ....but seriously, photos are coming...eventually ;)  )

For now, you will just have to be surprised when you download it and find out what it looks like! :) Merry Christmas! And happy decorating!
